Appellation. AOC Bordeaux is a regional appellation that showcases all the skills and savoir-faire of the Bordeaux wine region. Famous for its red wines, this area has also made white wines since a long time: thanks to Bordeaux, Sauvignon has become a noble grape variety as well as one of the most widely planted in the world today.

Wine making Baron de Lestac white wine pays homage not only to Sauvignon but also to traditional Bordeaux winemaking know-how. It is vinified in oak barrels, a complex process requiring great skill which enhances the aromatic intensity of Sauvignon.

Terroirs

Sauvignon Blanc is a delicate grape that needs cool temperatures. The Bordeaux wine region has a warm, humid climate and soils that are particularly favourable (clay-limestone means the vine gets the appropriate amount of water, while gravel gives the wine a mineral character) and we select specific vineyard parcels from our grower-partners. And just like them, Baron de Lestac is committed to sustainable wine growing via the Terra Vitis certification.

Terra Vitis logo, sustainable farming

Bottles of Baron de Lestac have been certified Terra Vitis since the 2019 vintage. The Bag-in-box format will be certified Terra Vitis from summer 2022.

The liveliness and balance of our white Bordeaux comes firstly from our choice of grape variety: Baron de Lestac white is made from Sauvignon, which gives the wine white flower notes. Its vinification in oak brings body, structure and length.
